Chi Ting, Flutist
Chi Ting, originally from Taipei, Taiwan, is a DMA student and teaching assistant for the flute studio at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
Previously, she held a Master of Music degree at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, where she studied with Marianne Gedigian and Leone Buyse, and Bachelor of Music degree at Colburn Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Jim Walker.
Chi is deeply passionate about chamber music, having performed in various ensembles including piano trios, woodwind quintets, and duos with clarinet and oboe. She and her friends won first prize at the Taiwan National Chamber Music Competition. Chi is dedicated to sharing music with communities and has volunteered her time for this cause. She has represented Taiwan at the Asia Flutists Federation congress in South Korea, Japan, and the US as part of the Golden Flute Choir.
Chi has garnered recognition in several competitions, including winning 2nd prize at both the San Diego Flute Guild Young Artist Competition and the Pasadena Showcase Instrumental Competition. She was a semifinalist at the Biwako International Flute Competition in Japan and a finalist at the 2015 Taiwan Flute Competition. In 2018, Chi was a winner of the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition at the Brevard Summer Music Festival, performing as a soloist with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra. During her time in Quebec in 2019, she performed Amy Beach's Quintet with Quatuor Cobalt at Domaine Forget. Chi also performed with the Taiwan Philharmonic in Taipei as a substitute flutist in 2020. In 2023, she was selected as a fellow for the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
